CLASSICAL KAZAKHSTAN 10 DAYS

Day 1: Almaty
You will be met by your guide at International Airport and accompanied to Almaty City. Almaty was capital of Kazakhstan from 1921 till 1997. Since 1997 Astana is the capital of the country and Almaty is called the southern capital of Kazakhstan. But still Almaty is the important financial and commercial hub of Kazakhstan. Almaty is situated in southern Kazakhstan, close the border of Kyrgyzstan. It is the largest, most civilized, and most cosmopolitan city of Kazakhstan. Overnight in hotel.

Day 2: Almaty city tour – Medeu – Almaty
Morning city tour. Introduction to history of Almaty and visit to Ascension Cathedral which is the second tallest wooden structure of the world; visit to the Square of 28 Panfilov Heroes with the Glory Memorial for the victims of the Civil War and the Second World War; visit to Musical Instruments Museum. After lunch excursion to Medeo, which is an ice rink up on the mountains on the south-eastern outskirts of Almaty. Overnight in hotel.

Day 3: Almaty city tour – Hawk Nursery – Green Bazaar – Kok Tebe – Almaty
Morning tour starts with visit to the “Hawks nursery” for all kinds of hunting dogs and birds of pray. At this place people teach hawks, eagles, golden eagles to hunt together with human. Your guide will tell you about amazing traditions of Kazakh hunting with hawks! You will have a chance to make photos of these birds and to find out many interesting facts about their life! Then you will visit our historical museum. The guide will tell you a lot of amazing facts about Kazakh history. After lunch we will go for a walk on Green Bazzar. In the evening drive to Kok Tebe to see the panorama view of Almaty. Night will be in a hotel.

Day 4: Almaty – Charyn Canyon – Almaty
Morning drive to Charyn Canyon - which is an amazing natural phenomenon. It reveals result of geomorphologic processes which took place for millions of years. These steep rocks are up to 150-300 meters high. Wind and water erosion created beautifull and astonishing "Red Castles Valley", which is more than 2 kilometers long and 20-80 meters wide. Towers of fantastic shapes will surround you throughout the valley. These rocks are 12 million years old. The Canyon is 200 km from Almaty. Afternoon return to Almaty. Overnight in hotel

Day 5: Almaty – Issyk Lake – Almaty – night train to Shymkent
Morning drive to Issyk Gorge - the most beautiful part of Trans-Ili Alatau, which is situated on Kuldja tract, the ancient caravan road. We will reach the altitude of 1756 m above sea level, the amazing alpine Issyk Lake, in the valley with the same name. The lake appeared 10,000 years ago due to gigantic landslide, which created 300 meter high natural dam. Here one can relax and enjoy the combination of astonishing beauty of turquoise water with the Issyk Gorge. Return to Almaty in the afternoon. At 10:10 p.m. tranfer to Railway Station for a night train to Shymkent (025T). Each compartment is for 4 people. Overnight in train

Day 6: Shymkent – Turkestan
Arrival to Shymkent at 9:25 a.m. After breakfast visit to a local bazaar for photography!
Later drive to Turkestan (160 km) which is famous with historical monuments and a rich history for a full day sightseeing. Visit to historical-architectural complex of Azret-Sultan and Mausoleum of Khodja Akhmed Yassavy - the founder of Yassaviya Sufic Order. The mausoleum of Khodja Akhmed Yasavi, was built by Timur the Great from 1389 to 1405 and it is one of the most important, outstanding and best-preserved monuments of the Timurid period. Later visit to Turkistan necropolis, oriental hammam (bath-house) and underground mosque. Overnight in hotel.

Day 7: Turkestan – Arystan Bab – Aksu Jabagly
Morning drive to Shymkent. Enroute visit to famous Arystan Bab mausoleum, built over the grave of a famous Sufy mystic of XII century Arystan Bab. The mausoleum dates back to the XIV-XVIII cc. It is one of the rare monuments of medieval period in Kazachstan built of fired bricks. Afternoon arrival in Shymkent. Overnight is a guesthouse.

Day 8: Aksu Jabagly Reserve
After breakfast a full day tour to Aksu Jabagly Natural Park, located in the western Tien-Shan. The total territory of reserve is 74,4 thousand hectares. It is the first natural reserve in Kazakhstan and Central Asia founded in 1926. This reserve has all climatic belts of Central Asia from semi-deserts to glaciers. The reserve has unique kinds of endemic plants growing on its territory. The Aksu river canyon is considered one of the deepest canyons in Central Asia. Tour includes hiking in the canyon and a picnic-lunch. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse.

Day 9: Aksu Jabagly – Shymkent – Astana
Morning drive to Shymkent for flight to Astana. Upon arrival to Astana - city tour. Visit to complex «Astana – Baiterek» which comprises the unique construction symbolising Astana. Observation platform is on the height of 97 meters from where one can see the panorama of a new capital of Kazakhstan. Later visit to the Alley of Singing Fountains which consists of three-level gallery type construction with two pavilions, glass transition-passes, open galleries, green lawns, colorful sidewalks and huge bowls with fountains. Dinner at 7 p.m. Overnight in hotel.


Day 10: Flight
Morning drive to the airport for international flight.
